REPORT ON CABLES

A cable is a set of wires covered in plastic or rubber that carries electricity. They come in different sizes and shapes and are either made in Nigeria or imported into the country. It is a product that can pose danger to life. As a result, its usage by consumers requires alot of care and proper handling. There are more than one thousand brands of cables in the markets across the country.
Investigation however reveals that a significant number of incidents of fire in most houses are as a result of substandard cables. The visit to most of the markets in Lagos revealed that the disparity in the prices of the various brands of cable was quite significant and calls for concern. While some of the imported brands especially from China are ridiculously cheap, those manufactured in Nigeria are on the high side. One particular brand we found at almost all the shops visited is the Sunrise cable.
