INFORMATION ON ROOFING SHEET.

Stakeholders in the nation's materials industry met in Lagos to review the standard for galvanized steel roofing sheet. The objective of the review is to ensure that consumers get value for their money. The review of the minimun standards for products by stakeholders is basically in response to the needs of consumers and to ensure the competitiveness of these products. The technical committee review of the galvanizes steel roofing sheets is one of such meetings in that regard. Before now the specified minimun standard for the thickness of the roofing sheet is 20mm. That is, the thickness of the roofing sheet.
After hours of deliberation, stakeholders comprising manufacturers representatives of the society of Engineers Institute of Architects, University, the Standards Organization Of Nigeria and consumers adopted the NIS 1800 2012 standard. The 3 classes of the new approved minimum standard for galvanized steel roofing sheet is 15mm, the Nigerian premium class is .18mm x .20mm and special order class .3mm and above. All the test were conducted by SON. Engineer Adewunmi urged Nigerians to always insist on buying made-in-Nigeria cables adding that they are the best in the world.
